Volunteer to work at Alna museum
Volunteer Work Weekend at the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Museum in Alna will be daily, Oct. 9-12, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Each year since 1997, volunteers from around the corner, around the country and overseas travel to the railway museum over the Columbus Day weekend to help work on numerous projects
Planned projects this fall will include: track construction leading into our new car barn; continued work on original WW&F steam locomotive #9, as its restoration nears completion; construction work on our new car barn; shingling on our new section house; exterior building painting; clean up projects; and other work as well!
If you are excited, we will get you to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty while meeting a dynamic group of volunteers.
Of course, visitors are welcome to just watch and see how our railroad is maintained and grows. But if you are watching too long we will put you to work!
Work will start at 7 a.m. and end around 5 p.m. rain or shine. Delicious lunches and dinners will be provided to volunteers by the museum.
The steam train will be running.
