Volunteers’ crafts for sale at Skidompha Book Shop
Volunteers and friends of the Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop include a number of crafters who are currently donating their work to be sold at the shop for the benefit of the library.
Their creative pieces are on display in the shop’s center room. They include items like knitted scarves, gloves, and socks; greeting cards; photo bookmarks; book pins; art prints; an oil painting; Christmas tree ornaments; women’s jackets; gourmet paprika; and other items that will be donated as the season progresses.
According to Rosie Bensen, co-manager of the shop, “We’ve never done anything like this before. One of our volunteers suggested it, and now, thanks to generous volunteers and friends, we have a new activity we call Book Shop Crafters. Their works will be for sale until after Christmas, unless we sell them all before that. Every purchase will support the programs and collections of the library.”
Bensen also notes that a volunteer has offered to giftwrap books bought at the shop, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, and for the same hours from Saturday, Dec. 20 through Wednesday, Dec. 24.
The book shop is located at 17 Backstreet Landing in downtown Damariscotta. It’s open every day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
During the holidays, the shop will be open for its regular hours, every day except for Christmas Day.
The shop is a major source of funding for Skidompha Public Library. It is run entirely by volunteers, and all items are donated. Donations are welcome whenever the shop is open.
