Who are you?
Dear data center inquirer (in other words, whoever is scouting a site for one of those techno-storage centers I don't think I had heard of before this came up in Wiscasset),
We've started writing about the town's and your communication; and area residents' reactions to the idea of a data center at the town's Old Ferry Road property. What we haven't been able to share, because we don't have it confirmed, and that's how we roll, is who this interested, or so far interested, party is.
If you did let the public know it's you, a downside would be opponents then being able to direct their verbal slings your way instead of at a nebulous "party."
Another might be the concern of tipping your hand to competing data center or other developers. For some businesses, the longer an expansion or other potential project is known only to that party and those they have to talk to, the better.
So we get it, and the very real chance you have even stronger reasons for going into the non-disclosure deal with the town than can occur to those of us who know next to nothing about business. (That would be me.)
But please consider the possibility, if you have not yet, that sharing who you are would show the public you want to be up front about your interest, addressing concerns raised, and sharing what you believe such a project could do for the economy, taxes and schools.
Thank you for your consideration, if you see this, which we hope.
Week's positive parting thought: Go, Patriots! It's nice to remember what winning feels like.
