Wiscasset community walks to fight diabetes
Wiscasset held the American Diabetes Association Community Walk to Stop Diabetes Saturday, Nov. 24. Despite the short six-week planning process, the walk met 30 percent of its goal. The website is still available at http://main.diabetes.org/goto/wiscassetmaine until the end of the year for anyone who would still care to donate.
The award for raising the most donations in the fight against diabetes was presented to Pam Balducci who raised $637.
Nine walkers participated in the walk. The weather was a little worse than we would have liked but it held out for the most part. The walkers walked from Wiscasset High School to the municipal building and back to the high school, which is a 2.6-mile walk.
All money raised was for the American Diabetes Association to be used for the fight to Stop Diabetes. The volunteer walk coordinator is Preston Dunning and he will be putting together another walk for next year.
Save the date. Next year’s walk in being planned for the first weekend in November.
