Wiscasset Police Blotter: Dog bite sends child to hospital
Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline reports the following activity from Monday, Nov. 2 to Sunday, Nov. 8:
Burglary/Theft
At 8:23 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline investigated a report from a victim who claimed his truck, almost $700 and a laptop had been stolen from his house on Bath Road overnight.
At 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, a Birch Point Road caller complained that someone had stolen two $12 hats.
At 9:13 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, a Birch Point Road caller complained that someone stole locks from his house.
At 2:34 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 on Rumerill Road, a caller complained about someone stealing their 30-30 rifle.
At 3:07 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, Reserve Patrol Officer Benjamin Kolko assisted a Lowelltown Road caller who complained that her son borrowed her car without permission.
Animal Complaint
At 12:18 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, Animal Control Officer Julie Groleau investigated a report from a Crabby Lane resident about a dog that had broken its leg and that the caller couldn't have it repaired due to cost. A veterinarian was called.
Assist other agency
At 5:57 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, crews responded to a call from Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick about a sexual assault kit. The case was referred to the Brunswick Police Department.
Animal Complaint
At 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta alerted Groleau about a dog bite victim in the emergency room. The victim was sent to have plastic surgery and the dog was scheduled to be euthanized.
At 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, Groleau was called after a Bradford Road caller complained of a dog running in the road. The dog was returned to its family.
At 1:24 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8 on Foye Road, Groleau responded to a report of a lost husky. The dog was eventually found and the owners were warned about not having a license for the dog.
Assault
At 2:49 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3 on Gardiner Road, Cline investigated a report from a man who claimed he was assaulted due to a money issue. Cline went to the Schooner Inn, where the suspect reportedly lives, but was unable to make contact.
Juvenile complaint
At 11:37 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4 on Gardiner Road, Cline dealt with a juvenile who was seen walking near Hunter's Breakfast. The child was given a ride to Wiscasset Middle High School and put under the supervision of the school resource officer until his grandmother arrived.
At 4:49 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4 on Outback Road, crews responded to a report of a 13-year-old boy who was reportedly “out-of-control.” The juvenile was sent to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
Accident
At 9:55 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 on Bath Road, crews responded to a two-car accident.
At 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, crews responded to a report of a man who hit a bobcat on Fowle Hill Road.
Suspicious activity
At 10:09 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6 on Main Street, the police department received a call about a building with its lights on, when it wasn't supposed to.
At 5:20 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6 on Route 1, a caller complained that the driver of a silver SUV was potentially scanning credit cards from people using an ATM. Crews were unable to locate the vehicle.
Domestic Disturbance
At 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6 at Schooner Inn, crews responded to an alleged assault involving an intoxicated man and a 13-year-old girl. The man was removed from the apartment.
Arrest
At 11:09 p.m., police arrested Jakayla Bothelho, 23, of Lewiston, and charged her with assault and violating the conditions of release.
Missing person
At 8:39 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 on West Alna Road, Reserve Patrol Officer Benjamin Kolko investigated a report of a missing person. According to a report, a 28-year-old woman went to the hospital to visit a friend a week earlier and hadn't yet returned.
Summons
James Estabrook, 49, of Litchfield was summonsed for failure to register a vehicle at 1:56 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.
Wiscasset Police officers issued seven warnings and one citation for speeding, one citation for failure to notify the Secretary of State for a change in address, six warnings and two citations for inspection, two warnings for a defect and one unspecified summons.
