Wiscasset police report 2 Federal Street/downtown incidents

Shortly after 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, a male subject knocked on a door of a Lincoln Street residence and asked a female if he could use her phone.The resident turned to get her phone and (the) male subject walked inside and displayed a firearm and told her this was a robbery.
Female was able to escape and run to a neighbor and called police.The residence was searched, and a K-9 track was started but was unsuccessful.
The suspect is described as a white male wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt or jacket with tan light-colored pants. He was wearing a black mask which at one point was pulled down allowing the victim to see his face. Suspect was described as being clean-shaven with acne.
At this time, law enforcement considers this an isolated incident and there is no known active threat to the public.
Wiscasset Police (Department) is also investigating a burglary to a downtown business ... late Monday evening or early Tuesday morning involving the theft of a large amount of hard liquor. It is unknown at this time if both incidents are related. If you live in the downtown/Federal Street area and your home and/or business have video capabilities we ask that you review your system for anything that may assist us in identifying the suspect(s).
