MDOT Wiscasset downtown project update
According to a Maine Department of Transportation email Monday, work in Wiscasset’s downtown will focus on sidewalks for the next few days.
Weather permitting, contractor Pike will fine-grade the sidewalk area for pedestrian access across Route 1 and Middle Street in front of In The Clover. A second crew will fine-grade the sidewalk from Middle to Federal streets. Pike will continue to raise utility and drainage structures from the railroad tracks to The Gallery parking spaces across from Mammy's Bakery. The jackhammering noise from this is anticipated to continue for another six nights of work.
Pike will also fine-grade the sidewalk area for pedestrian access across Route 1 and Middle Street in front of Treats, and fine-grade sidewalk areas from the railroad tracks back to the corner of Water Street at Sarah’sCafe. Pike will fine-grade sidewalks in front of Mammy's Bakery, then begin brick removal. Workers will excavate and place a gravel base in the sidewalk from Mammy’s Bakery to Fort Hill Street.
Work is expected between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
