Donald E. Davey Bridge surface work begins
The Maine Department of Transportation will be resurfacing the Donald E. Davey Bridge that spans the Sheepscot River between Wiscasset and Edgecomb starting on Friday, April 26.
The work will be completed by mid-June, according to information on the department website.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. there will be two 11-foot, six-inch lanes open to traffic. There will be no work done on the bridge on Sundays, between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.
The DOT may restrict wide loads from crossing the bridge, so some may need to seek alternate routes. For more information, call the DOT at: 207-624-3000.
To get to Edgecomb from Wiscasset without crossing the Donald E. Davey Bridge: Take Route 218 out of Wiscasset into Alna. Take a right onto Sheepscot Road and follow it to Route 1 in Newcastle. Turn right onto Route 1 and drive south to Edgecomb.
