Wiscasset inspects Mason Station
A group of Wiscasset and Lincoln County officials inspected Mason Station April 24, Wiscasset Town Manager Laurie Smith confirmed.
The town had a Wiscasset District Court order to inspect several lots at the site of the failed development project. Interim Wiscasset Code Enforcement Officer Bruce Engert told the court the inspection's purpose would be to confirm that the conditions violate state laws and pose an immediate threat to health and safety.
Engert claimed there may be an illegal junkyard and at least one unsafe building.
In an interview April 25, Smith did not reveal what she observed regarding any of the issues Engert raised in court documents.
“The inspection went well, and we have a lot of information to sift through and digest,” Smith said.
Smith, Engert, Town Planner Misty Parker, Selectman William Curtis, Lincoln County Planner Bob Faunce, the Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission's economic and community development director Mary Ellen Barnes, and environmental engineers from GEI Consultants in Portland and Campbell Environmental in Falmouth all attended the inspection, Smith said.
