Selectmen's race sets up in Wiscasset
Wiscasset voters will have three candidates to choose from for two selectmen's seats June 11. Election nominations closed April 29, with at least one person running for every seat up for election except the six openings on the budget committee, Town Clerk Christine Wolfe said.
Incumbent Selectman Pam Dunning, former selectman David Nichols, and former fire chief and current withdrawal committee member Timothy A. Merry are running for two selectmen's seats, Wolfe said April 30.
Incumbent water district trustees Dean Shea and Edward Kavanagh are unopposed for reelection. Rowena Flynn will be the lone candidate on the ballot for a three-year term on the Regional School Unit 12 board of directors.
No one turned in nomination papers for the budget committee. By town ordinance, if any of the committee's three available three-year terms and three two-year terms are not filled by write-in candidates, the selectmen will appoint people to serve until the June 2014 elections.
