The Boothbay Region YMCA offers an array of different childcare opportunities for working and busy families throughout the Boothbay region. The Y’s child enrichment center supports the Harbor Montessori School and Child Enrichment programs, with the Fit Kids After School Program held in the main facility.

The Y’s traditional Montessori setting fosters creativity, curiosity, and exploration in a child-led classroom. The prepared environment allows friends to select materials of interest to them. The Harbor Montessori Schools curriculum focuses on practical life, sensorial investigations, language, math, and cultural studies. Harbor Montessori offers full-time enrollment for children ages 2½ to 6 years old, and limited availability half day programs for children ages 4 to 6 years old. 

Child Enrichment at the Y offers a nurturing and inclusive learning environment designed to promote emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development. The Y believes that children learn through play. The environment is designed to allow friends to explore and create independently appropriate curriculum based on the Maine Early Learning Standards and the needs of the individual children in the program. Child Enrichment offers full-time enrollment for children ages 6 weeks to 18 months and 18 months to 2½ years old.

Both Child Enrichment and Harbor Montessori are children will learn new skills at his/her own pace under the guidance and support of the caregivers and teachers.

Fit Kids After School Program is designed to support working families while prmoting each child’s cognitive, emotional, and physical development through experiences which focus on achievement, relationships and belonging.

The Y provides a healthy, stimulating and safe environment. Fit Kids swim in the Y’s pools and utilize the Y’s field house and track for physical activity. Fit Kids take field trips, learn about health, nutrition, and cooking, work together on STEM projects, spend time reading and doing homework, and much more. Fit Kids serves youth from Kindergarten through 5th grade.
