● People spend too much time on Facebook. I might check it once a day but the dozens of political posts and the ranting and raving on each drives me to check out of it. How many times have you changed someone’s mind by your posts? Probably never. I understand that it is a presidential election year and Mainers will be voting on a Senate seat, but I have better things to do than blast my opinions about the candidates on Facebook.

● The local economy seems to be doing a bit better during the past few weeks, as compared to June and early July. Traffic (foot and vehicular) has picked up and waiting for people to cross the road or for cars to turn left or right has been a welcome thing to do while driving.

● I pity the people who have had to work outside of late. I don’t do well in the heat and humidity. Hopefully the weather pattern will change soon. Looks like 70s next week, according to the TV meteorologists.

● Wearing a mask doesn’t seem to be as big a deal like it was in the beginning of this pandemic. My friend, Susan Quinby, who lives at Newagen when she can, told me she’s got so many masks that she either chooses a mask to match an outfit, or chooses an outfit to match a mask.

● Speaking of masks, there are many articles on the internet explaining the best and not-so-best types of masks for keeping the droplets from one’s breath from possibly spreading to another person. At least it has been nice to see that the majority of the people I have seen walking around town and in stores are wearing some kind of covering on their faces.

● Good luck to the school administrators, staff and students as the school year approaches. Not an easy time to be making hard decisions.
