Marlene Huskins Pottle, 80, died peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Jefferson Green, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on June 17, 1932 in Tewksbury, Mass., the daughter of the late Clayton and Anna Farnsworth Parmenter. Her family moved to the Boothbay region and she attended local schools there. Shortly after finishing her schooling, she began working as a housekeeper for private homes throughout the region. She did this until her retirement.

Marlene enjoyed shopping and was always fond of finding a good deal. She was a phenomenal cook and having the entire family over for Sunday dinners was something she found great pleasure in. Her spaghetti recipe is one of which you have never tasted before and one that the family proudly still uses today.

Family meant the world to her and the family gatherings that happened through the years were memories that she treasured. Her two dogs, Benji and Buffy, brought great joy into her life and she was very sad to have to let them go as she was unable to give them the love and attention she knew that they needed. She found great joy in knowing the two were adopted together and she would ask how they were doing often.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Gordon Pottle who died in 1986, and a second husband, Alfred Huskins, who died in 2009.

Survivors include her children, Sally Barter and her husband Calvin of Boothbay Harbor, and Clayton Pottle and his wife Cindy of Southport; brother, Claude Parmenter and his wife Pat of Southport; sister, Kay Pickard and her husband George of Franklin; grandchildren, Marinel House, Chelsea Pottle, Steven Pottle and his wife Carolyn, Corey Pottle and his wife Brandi and Brian Pottle; great-grandchildren, Nick House, Ella Pottle, John Pottle, Spencer Pottle and Ryder Baker; and several nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held.
