The Lincoln County Animal Shelter has been deluged with parrots! A blue-fronted Amazon, a golden-collared macaw, a black-capped conure, a sun conure, a white-eyed conure, ablue-crowned conure and an Indian ringneck parrot, in the Edgecomb jungle. The Shelter staff warn that people who wish to adopt any of these birds should be familiar with raising parrots, which can be very demanding. Does anyone recall the year there were green parakeets living in the trees along McKay Road?
I know it mystified my mother, who thought they were nasty birds, very aggressive. But obviously one touch of winter and they must have headed back to Mexico, whence, I daresay, they had come.
Hey, does anyone know how I can get some fresh mackerel? It has totally disappeared from the marketplace. For 13 years now, I have hungered for the nice little tinker mackerel ouritinerant fish dealer, Mr. Giles, used to bring around in his truck every week. But I've asked andasked, and no one seems to know, nor particularly care, why mackerel is off the menu.
