Student art show celebrates a new season
The Maine Art Gallery, at 15 Warren St. in Wiscasset, kicks off its 2025 season with the annual show of diverse and creative art by local students.
Wiscasset Elementary art teacher Elizabeth Proffetty and Middle/High art teacher Shalimar Chassé have curated a lively exhibit of over 100 examples of work in a wide variety of mediums including drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, crafts, mixed media, and printmaking.
The show will be open to the public on three weekends: April 12-13, April 19 (closed Easter Sunday), April 26-27. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. A reception to honor the students will be held on Thursday, April 17 from 4 to 6 p.m.
The Student Art Show is always a visual delight. Everyone is invited to stop by the gallery in the old Academy Building on Warren Street in Wiscasset and appreciate the imaginative creations of young minds.
Maine Art Gallery has free on-street parking. From the north on Route 1, turn right onto Federal Street (Rt. 218) then left onto Warren Street. From the south on Route 1, turn left onto Federal Street, then left onto Warren Street. From Main Street shops, it’s an easy 8-minute walk.
