The Animal House donates to local rescues

The Animal House in Damariscotta donated over 700 pounds of dog food and 28 pallets of cat food to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter and Underhound Railroad on March 17.
This was the culmination of the “pound for pound” promotion the Animal House ran in November of 2014, courtesy of Nature's Variety Pet Food. During the promotion, any customer's purchase of Nature's Variety pet food would be matched by the company and be donated to the local rescues. The second Animal House location in Westbrook ran a similar promotion.
The Animal House often houses adoptable cats from the shelter in their stores. This week “Sammy,” a beautiful three-year-old black male cat, greeted customers. Sammy has been at the shelter almost a year and Aubrey Martin, owner the Animal House, hopes he will find a home soon.
“We have partnered with LCAS for many years and in that time have found homes for almost 800 cats,” Martin said.”
All 28 flats of cat food went to the shelter, along with 8 bags of dog food. Underhound Railroad received 16 bags of dog food.
Representatives from both LCAS and Underhound Railroad thanked the Animal House for their support.
“This is because of the customers,” Martin said. “It was because of them we could do this.”
