King Eider's hosts March of Dimes fundraiser
King Eider's Pub in Damariscotta will be hosting a fundraising night for local a March for Babies team (Team Garron) to benefit the Maine Chapter of the March of Dimes.
Eider's will be donating a part of the evening's proceeds on Sunday, March 29 from 5 p.m. until closing. Food and drink are all included.
Team Garron consists of local residents Aubrey Martin and family, Jessica Bourne, Cathy Jones, Heather Hartford, Maddy Hartford, Madeline Dixon, Kelsey Schwarz, Catherine Tanous and Katrina White.
They are walking in memory of Garron Martin, who was born prematurely at 23 weeks, in memory of all the other babies who didn't make it home, and in celebration of babies that did. Team Garron has been walking in the March for Babies since 2009 and has raised over $20,000.
The mission of the March of Dimes is to prevent premature birth, birth defects and infant death through programming, research, education and advocacy. They fund research through Jackson Laboratories on Mount Desert Island, including surfactant therapy, progesterone therapy and heart defect studies. The March of Dimes research is also responsible for NICU Family Support Services at Maine Medical Center, neonatal testing, folic acid in the grain supply and the polio vaccine.
All the money raised in Maine stays in Maine, and nationally 76 cents of every dollar goes towards the mission.
Team Captain Aubrey Martin is very appreciative of Eider's willingness to host the event.
"My family loves King Eider's, as their food and service is excellent, but I am so thankful for their commitment to our community. They are an incredible asset to the Midcoast area, and we hope you come out to support both our team and King Eider's Pub for the event."
