A healthy county needs healthy people
The public is invited to enjoy a free, community barbecue on Tuesday, June 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the Damariscotta Baptist Church in downtown Damariscotta. The fun dinner is presented by a group of Lincoln County public health and social services agencies as part of the ongoing “Achieving Better Health in Lincoln County” project.
For the past year, county residents have talked about their own health and the health of their communities, what’s working and what’s not. Personal stories and experiences shared have helped define health and health issues, and the strengths and challenges we face.
The community barbecue is an important step in the project — your help is needed to decide the top health issue and help launch into a plan to find solutions. Whether you’re a senior citizen, young parent, youth, uninsured, veteran, and especially if you attended a community conversation in Boothbay Harbor, Wiscasset and Waldoboro — you are invited. Childcare will be provided, along with a grocery store gift card. Rides can also be arranged.
This work is made possible by a Maine Health Access Foundation grant and many people working together. The barbecue will talk about next steps, and residents are encouraged to join the project as we focus over the next year on practical ways to make our County healthier. Please RSVP to Brenda Hamilton, Healthy Lincoln County, at 207-563-1330 or director@healthylincolncounty.org.
