On becoming a savvy investor
Surprises are not as much fun as they used to be, but the stock markets are full of surprises and "buy and hold" doesn't seem to work as well as it used to. What to do? Sell? Invest more?
Come to a basic investing seminar for the Alfred E. Neuman ("What, ME worry?") wannabe, do-it-yourself investor on June 25 at 1:30 p.m., Spectrum Generations Coastal Community Center, 521 Main Street, Damariscotta.
In this first investing seminar of the summer, Dave Clemens will discuss how to decide when to enter, exit and re-enter the markets using top-down analysis and crossing patterns including the death and golden crosses. If time permits, Clemens and his students will also attempt to identify stocks that have been strong over the long term and perhaps discuss some basic stock option strategies.
Clemens is a retired corporate/securities attorney who summers in Maine.
The only prerequisite is interest. No background knowledge is necessary. Clemens’ "Investing for Dummies" workshop will start at the beginning. Although not necessary, for those who want to book mark websites that are visited during the workshop, bring your laptop. The center has Wi-Fi access. Get ready to become a savvy investor. To register call 207-563-1363. A $5 participation fee per session is asked.
