Steven W. Ell, 63, of Westport Island, died July 12, 2015, at Umass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.

He was born in Malden, Massachusetts, on Feb. 27, 1952, a son of John G. and Myrtle C. (Steele) Ell.

He attended Malden Schools and graduated from Andover High School. He was employed at Hall equipment, Eastern Technology and moved to Westport Island. He was employed at Bath Iron Works for many years. On Oct. 14, 2011, he married Deborah Richards and they resided on Westport Island.

He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Lincoln County Rifle Club and the National Rifle Association.

He enjoyed hunting, camping, guns and cars.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah A. Ell of Westport Island; his father, John G. Ell; two sons, Steven Ell Jr. of South Portland and Brian Ell of New Gloucester; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Frazier and her husband Scott of Brunswick, and Stephanie Clayter and her husband Nate Addy of Waldoboro; brother in-law and sister in-law, Walter and Kat Winchenbach of Franklin, Virginia; one granddaughter, Maddy; five step-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter.

A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Old Westport Town Hall. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset. The family encourages everyone to become an organ donor.
