County budget calendar set

Lincoln County Commissioners have approved the fiscal year 2016 budget calendar as prepared by Carrie Kipfer, the county’s finance director.
Notification letters to each selectman and town clerk in Lincoln County will be mailed on Friday, Aug. 7. On the same day, letters will also be sent to organizations and the county’s legislative delegation.
On Tuesday, Aug. 11, each department within county government will receive the fiscal year 2016 budget request forms, with a goal of completing these and returning them to the commissioners by Aug. 28.
The final, approved budget is due for approval by the commissioners on Dec. 15.
“We went more aggressively on the timing,” John O’Connell, county administrator, said about this year’s budget. “The only uncertainty would be the budget for the jail and that would be determined later.”

- Sept. 3: Caucus for election of budget committee at courthouse
- Sept. 17: Public hearing for FY 2016 requests by department and non-profit organizations at communications center
- Sept. 22: Budget books distributed to advisory committee
- Oct. 8: First work session, budget advisory committee at communications center
- Oct. 22: Second work session, budget advisory committee at communications center. Tentative approval of budget
- Nov. 5: Budget advisory committee meeting with legislative delegation at communications center
