Dog beer and sausages: Dogtoberfest celebration planned for The Animal House
A week-long celebration is planned at The Animal House, filled with activities for pets and their families.
Food sample demonstrations and sales, rescue groups, an animal communicator, a scavenger hunt, Trick and Treat, Dogtoberfest party, and a "Meet The Professional" series kick off the festivities, beginning Oct. 26 and ending on Nov. 1.
The following is a schedule of events:
Monday, Oct. 26, a representative from Weruva will be handing out samples from 4-6 p.m., plus a sale on all litter and food.
Tuesday, Oct. 27 from 4-6 p.m., "Meet the Trainer" features Positively Best Friends, who will be available to talk about their upcoming training classes and answer dog training and behavior questions.
Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 4-6 p.m. features Catahoula Rescue of New England. Learn more about this beautiful breed, plus fostering and adoption opportunities. Also from 4-6 p.m., our professional series continues with Atlantic Veterinary Services. Meet with Dr. Tichy to learn about the services they offer.
Thursday, Oct. 29, we have the Lincoln County Animal Shelter from 4-6 p.m. with adoptable doggies and kitties. Come in to learn about what is happening at the shelter, and maybe pick up an item from their wish list.
Friday, Oct. 30 from 4-6 p.m. is the Dogtoberfest Celebration, featuring dog beer and sausages, a scavenger hunt, prizes, games, plus coloring and sweets for the kids. The dog beer is courtesy of Three Busy Dogs. This non-alcoholic beer is pork or chicken based, and includes glucosamine for joint support. The "beer" will be served in bowls and also be available for purchase. Sausages, courtesy of Merrick and Natural Balance, will be served as a snack and will be used as part of the scavenger hunt throughout the store.
Dogs in costume get a free gift. Community banking partner, The First, will be on-hand handing out goodies during the festivities.
Saturday, Oct. 31 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. is Trick and Treat. Free bags of treats and samples with any purchase, plus an extra free gift for those dogs in costume.
And Sunday, Nov. 1 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Nature's Variety will be handing out free samples and coupons on their dog and cat diets and treats.
Also on Sunday, special guest Kathryn Drage, an animal communicator, will be available from noon-2 p.m. to perform pet readings and energy healing. The cost is $25 per session.
