Lincoln County Historical Association adds new officers
Members of the Lincoln County Historical Association (LCHA) approved a board and officers for the coming year at the association's annual business meeting Sunday, Nov. 18.
Incoming President is Ed Kavanagh of Wiscasset. He replaces John Reinhardt, also of Wiscasset. Vice President is Merry Fossel of Alna, replacing Kavanagh. Continuing on as Treasurer is Bill Brewer of Damariscotta and Secretary is Chris Hopf-Lovette of Wiscasset, replacing Wendy Ross Eichler, also of Wiscasset.
Kavanagh thanked Reinhardt and Ross Eichler for their hard work and gave them each a present: a bottle of Scotch for Reinhardt and flowers for Ross.
Reinhardt spoke of the successful projects completed by the board and volunteers over the past few years in preserving the three historic properties managed by the association, the 1761 Pownalborough Court House in Dresden, the 1811 Museum and Old Jail in Wiscasset and the 1754 Chapman-Hall House in Damariscotta.
“Your hard work has done magnificent things,” he said, noting the rise in numbers of people who visited the sites in the past year. Reinhardt said he has enjoyed being president and will continue to be involved with the organization, as co-chair with Faye Snyder of the Collections Committee.
Kavanagh also praised the restoration work done recently at the three properties but noted that “it isn't what you've done to an antique home, it's what you have to do next.”
Continuing as board members of the association are Bobbi Brewer of Portland, Nate Clark of Dresden, Natalie House of Damariscotta, George Keyes of Waldoboro, Jeff Miller of Waldoboro, Perry Palmer of Brunswick, Darryn Petersen of Nobleboro, Faye Snyder of Wiscasset and Judith Sutter of Wiscasset. Joining the board is Linda Pope of Wiscasset.
Some thirty people attended the annual LCHA get together and business meeting, held this year at Le Garage Restaurant in Wiscasset.
