Wiscasset woman charged with unauthorized use of property
When Dee Russell loaned her 1995 Toyota Tercel to Susan Doray December 3, she expected to get it back within a few hours.
But hours and several unanswered text messages later, she reported her 1995 Toyota Tercel stolen.
Russell told Officer Geoffrey Davis of the Wiscasset Police Department she allowed Doray, 28, and Matthew Reed to use the vehicle to drop Reed off at work Monday, Dec. 3 at approximately 8:30 a.m., with instructions to return the car afterward.
Doray failed to return the vehicle, according to Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline.
At approximately 9 a.m. the next morning, the car was back at the owner’s house, Cline said.
Cline arrested Doray Tuesday morning at her residence and charged her with violation of conditions of release and unauthorized use of property. She was transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail where she will remain pending arraignment, according to a press release from the Wiscasset Police Department.
Russell told Cline that Doray had returned the vehicle at approximately midnight and had put about 300 miles on the vehicle while it was in her possession. Russell also told Cline she had dropped Doray off at her residence.
According to Cline, Doray’s license has been suspended and she should not have been driving a vehicle.
Doray's court date is December 26 at 8:30 a.m. at the Wiscasset District Court.
