A structure fire at the residence of Tom Mansfield, 593 Boothbay Road (Route 27) in Edgecomb, was reported as of 11:45 a.m., Monday, Jan. 14. The fire originated on the bottom floor of the home in a bedroom, Edgecomb Fire Chief Roy Potter said.

No injuries were reported, but one firefighter was experiencing chest pains and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

According to Potter, fire crews from Edgecomb, Newcastle, Wiscasset, Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor are examining the interior of the home, trying to ventilate the space and find hot spots. The structure is still standing, but the cause of the fire is not yet known.

Edgecomb Fire Department urged motorists to be careful when driving near Old County Road and Middle Road due to fire apparatus responding.
