Thursday, April 13, is Maundy Thursday — Last Supper day. It is also pantry day at St. Philip’s Help Yourself Shelf. What a conundrum!

The Shelf and the church fathers feel it important to honor the need of area people for food aid while at the same time for the church to hold its Holy Week service, scheduled for 6 p.m. The church meets in the same space as the HYS holds it pantry.

Resolution: given sunny weather, the Shelf will set up outside the building at 12 Hodge Street in Wiscasset, but whether inside or outside, instead of starting at 5 p.m., attendees will be allowed to make choices earlier — as soon as they arrive after 3:30. The Shelf will close up shop at 5:30 sharp, allowing for cleanup prior to the church service at 6.
