Rev. John Ineson at All Saints by-the-Sea
The Rev. John Ineson will be the visiting clergy at All Saints by-the-Sea on Sunday, July 15, conducting Holy Communion at 8 and 10 a.m.
The church is on Southport on All Saints Road about 2 miles on your left as you drive south on Route 238. You may also come to church on the tour boat Novelty leaving Boothbay Harbor from Pier 8 at 9 a.m. or by private boat.
Ineson is well known to many people in the area as the previous rector of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Newcastle from 1984-1995, as Vicar of St. Barnabas, Augusta, from 1997-2008, and as the supply preacher last summer at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Boothbay Harbor. During the winter he serves as Seasonal Assistant at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Marco Island in Florida.
A native of Rochester, N.Y., the Ineson earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire in 1961 and a Bachelor of Sacred Theology degree from Berkeley Divinity School in New Haven, Conn., in 1964. He served three parishes in the Diocese of Central New York until 1972, when he and his family moved to Waldoboro.
In addition to his clerical duties, Ineson and his wife Hannah Ineson, an organist and artist, ran a macrobiotic education center in Waldoboro for 10 years. Ineson is the author of “The Way of Life, Macrobiotics and the Spirit of Christianity.” He has lectured and led workshops in health, wholeness and healing for many years and has an active ministry in the laying on of hands for healing.
Also a singer and song writer, Ineson entertained in clubs throughout Maine from 1972-1984. His song “Somewhere in Maine” was the theme for the Maine Educational Television Network Series “Mainebook.” His newest CD is called “From the Heart.” Often he will illustrate a sermon point with a song.
All are welcome at this summer chapel. A social hour with refreshments will follow the 10 a.m. service.
