As of February 4 Damariscotta Police Chief Chad Andrews was placed on administrative leave, Damariscotta Town Manager Matt Lutkus said.

Lincoln County Sheriff Todd Brackett will assume the role of interim police chief.

“We hope it won't be too long,” Lutkus said of the current situation. Because Andrews' leave concerns an internal matter, the exact reason was not disclosed.

Brackett told Lincoln County Commissioners he expected his interim role as Damariscotta Police Chief wouldn't last more than three weeks.
