POSTPONED due to the snowstorm to MARCH 18th at 7:00pm.
Join us for a Benefit Screening of "PASANG: In the Shadow of Everest” on Saturday, March 4th at 7pm in celebration of International Women’s Day. This is a special preview screening while the film is still in its festival run! PASANG: In the Shadow of Everest chronicles Pasang Lhamu Sherpa’s tragic and inspiring journey to become the first Nepali woman to summit Everest in 1993. As an uneducated, indigenous woman and a Buddhist in a Hindu kingdom, Pasang’s dream to scale the legendary mountain pits her against family, foreign climbers, her own government, and nature itself.
This award winning film has been a favorite at film festivals worldwide winning Best Mountain Film at Banff Mountainfilm Festival 2022 and Best Adventure Documentary at Mountainfilm 2022. We hope you'll join us for the Maine premiere of this important film.
This event is free with a suggested donation of $10 – $29 (29,032 is the height of Everest!) to support the filmmaking team and The Waldo. Registration is required as seating is limited at: https://waldotheatreinc.thundertix.com/events/208373. Come early and enjoy an opening slide show and some of Dorjee Sherpa’s favorite Nepali music. The film will be preceded by a pre-recorded message from Director Nancy Svendsen. After the film, we will hold a raffle and a brief Q&A with one of the film’s ardent supporters.
