Boothbay Railway Village

55th anniversary for Maine’s longest running car show

Antique Auto Days on July 20 and 21
Tue, 07/16/2019 - 10:15am

During the 55th anniversary of Antique Auto Days on July 20 and 21, drivers, their passengers and all visitors to The Village will have close-up views of over one hundred visiting classic, vintage, antique, hot rods, muscle cars and more all parked on the Village Green at the Boothbay Railway Village. Plus, visitors are welcome to tour the Village’s Auto Museum, where another 50-plus vintage autos are permanently showcased.

In the fifty-five years since the first Auto Days, when 15 cars participated in 1964, Antique Auto Days has grown into a much larger show featuring a hundred or more cars of all makes and models on the Museum’s Village Green. Many consider the Parade the highlight of the weekend, as the autos drive through Boothbay Harbor, on their second day of the event, departing the museum at 2 p.m. Guests are encouraged to visit the show before then, as many of the cars depart directly for home after the parade.

Anyone owning a classic, antique, hot rod, muscle car, rat rod or other cool vehicle is invited to show it off on the Village Green on July 20 and 21. Every collector car pays $10 for the event, for one vehicle on both days, and includes the driver plus one passenger. Others in the car are $5 each, and children under 3 are free. Car owners receive free admission to the Museum and a commemorative dash plaque. A People’s Choice trophy will also be awarded.

Train tickets are priced separately, $5 per person. Children under the ages of three are free.

There is another event at the 30-acre Village grounds on the 20th, Rails, Tails, & Ales, one of the Village’s major annual fundraisers, is traditionally held on the first day of the Antique Auto Days event, on Saturday, July 20 from noon to 4 p.m. This year, seven Maine craft breweries will be pouring their famed “liquid gold” at the annual beer tasting. Tickets for a wristband to enjoy ten 4-ounce beer tastings is $35 (must be 21). Tasting tickets are on sale at www.eventbrite.com/rails-tails-ales-tickets and will be available at the door on event day, July 20.
