After technical difficulties, Maine CDC announces 847 total COVID-19 cases

Sat, 04/18/2020 - 2:30pm

AUGUSTA — The Maine CDC has updated its list, April 18, of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state of Maine.

Today, there are 847 cases confirmed across the state.

Across the state, 382 people have recovered from COVID-19, while 32 people have passed. The number of hospitalizations across the state stands at 136.

The Maine CDC reports 14,076 negative cases, as of April 15. “Maine CDC will publish negative results once a week on Wednesdays. Because of the number of outside labs that are testing samples from Maine, it is not currently possible to post a complete count of negative tests on a daily basis,” the Maine CDC website states.

By sex, 453 females have tested positive in the state and 394 males have tested positive.

The below cases represents the number of full-time Maine residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Maine CDC.

“This is likely an underrepresentation of the true number of cases in Maine since not all individuals are being tested,” the Maine CDC says. “For individuals not considered to be at high risk, medical providers are currently advised to diagnose COVID-19 based on symptoms.”

Each day, the Maine CDC updates its COVID-19 data on its website by noon with the latest coronavirus numbers from across the state.

Those updates are promised to come by noon, and have been released as early as 10:15 a.m. and as late as a few ticks before noon.

This morning, shortly after 10:45 a.m, the Maine CDC posted a note on its website stating today’s update of the data will be delayed, for an unknown time period, due to technical difficulties.

Today’s update came at 2:30 p.m.
