Alna Column: Town reports available
Condolences to the family and friends of Johnny Barnes. Johnny was Toby Stockford's cousin, but more like his brother. Amy and Tobey have been helping his widow and 14-year-old daughter. That is why Amy has been out of office this past week. You know how she is always helping when and where she is needed.
Town reports are out. If the delivery folks missed you this weekend, the office and post office have them available. Friday voting starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m. Come out and vote then don't miss meeting on Saturday. The fire station will be open and meeting starts at 10 a.m. There will be goodies brought in by your neighbors, so if you would like to donate, please feel free to bring a snack to share. Coffee will be available also.
I can see Irene Brookings saying to Chris Cooper, "Why did you guys do that?" She would be referring to the dedication in the front of town report. She was the star at many town meetings, where she would sing the songs and ballads of her day. She passed away earlier this year; we will miss her smiling face.
I am asking the young folks in town who don't belong to Alna's fire department a question. The chief is looking for more help; remember, now that you have a new home, you could need them. How about joining? I am also inviting any new residents to come visit the station on Wednesday night to meet their neighbors.
Our EMTs, first responders and firefighters are the best around. I have seen them in action many times over the years. It is a great group of folks keeping your town safe. They not only work at fires and traffic control at accidents, but when other departments need help, mutual aid is given.
Update on the ladies at the Narrow Gauge Farm: new piglets due in June, I think.
Have a nice week and please pass it forward when you're able.
