Alna Column: Town schedule changes
This has been a sad weekend for me. I lost a good friend who lived in Florida. Chet Woodburn had heart surgery, left the hospital and was doing well. On Saturday night, he died unexpectedly. Between pictures on Facebook and missing him, I'm not doing the best. I can't believe he is gone. Chet lived in Wiscasset most of his younger life, and moved to Florida after he discovered an older brother living there.
A few of us in Alna graduated with him in 1965 and next year will be our 50th year. How will we have a reunion without him there to start the party? Rest in peace, my friend; you are already missed by so many of us.
Changes at the town office this week: I will be doing Thursday and not Tuesday from now on. Amy is starting Boothbay Farmers’ Market on May 15. Why not go down and give her some support and wish her well with this new adventure she has started.
Remember, selectmen changed to Wednesday night at 7 p.m. If you need to come in, call and Amy will put you on the agenda.
Mike Trask, Jim Bruce or Amy Warner can give out fire permits. Permits are required by law and no burning during the week until after 5 p.m. Most of our department members work regular jobs, so we have to have them in town in case case of fire emergency.
May this coming week be filled with more sunshine and less heartaches.
