American Legion Post 54 of Wiscasset will hold its Memorial Day service at 9 a.m. Monday, May 29, Post Commander William Cossette Jr. said. The observance will take place at the veterans’ wall on the lawn of the municipal building at the corners of routes One and 27.

Post members used ladders the weekend of May 20-21 to put American flags back on utility poles on Route One from the Woolwich line to the Donald E. David Bridge and on Route 27, from Route One to Wiscasset Middle High School, Cossette said. The post spent $1,200 on flags and flag pole replacements this year, he said. Donations to help the post recoup the cost can be mailed to American Legion Post 54, P.O. Box 214, Wiscasset, ME 04578.
