Anna Fiedler was promoted to director of conservation at Midcoast Conservancy on Jan. 1. In her new role, Dr. Fiedler will be planning and directing the organization’s crucial work to protect the water quality within three watersheds: Damariscotta Lake and the Sheepscot and Medomak Rivers. In addition, she will continue to develop and implement conservation plans to benefit climate resiliency, wildlife habitat and public access across the Midcoast area.

“I’m looking forward to having Anna’s powerful strategic thinking and superb record for getting projects done to protect land and water across the Midcoast area,” said Jody Jones, Executive Director. “Anna is a tremendous asset to our whole staff and we are looking forward to working with her in her new role.”

Anna was previously the director of land conservation at Midcoast Conservancy and for several years was the executive director of Sheepscot Wellspring Land Alliance, one of the Midcoast Conservancy’s founding organizations.

Fiedler said, "Combining land and water conservation will integrate our excellent work on fish passage, water quality, and land conservation and stewardship. This change will create opportunities for Midcoast Conservancy to continue to innovate and effectively work across traditional boundaries."

Fiedler graduated from Michigan State University in 2010 with a PhD in ecology.
