Boothbay Region Art Foundation (BRAF), sponsor of the ninth annual ARTinME exhibit, has announced the judge for this year’s show will be Connie Hayes, noted painter from Rockland. Hayes is known for her “Borrowed Views” and exquisite paintings of Maine landscapes and interiors.

Hayes received her M.F.A. from Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia, and Rome; her B.F.A. from the Maine College of Art in Portland; and her B.A. from the University of Maine. She received a fellowship to attend the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 1989.  She taught at the Maine College of Art for 10 years, also participating in arts administration there for 15 years, including serving as the interim Dean of Faculty.

In 2003 Hayes was awarded an honorary doctorate in fine arts from the Maine College of Art. From 1992-1998 she lived in New York City. Since 1990 she has been painting on location through her Borrowed Views project and developing figurative work in her Rockland Studio. Connie Hayes serves as a member of the board of trustees for the Farnsworth Art Museum.

The ARTinME exhibit presents a fresh and selective look at the fine art being produced by Maine artists today, showcasing originality and skill in the painting, drawing, printmaking and sculptural media.  Monetary prizes, amounting to over $1,500 will be awarded.

The exhibition is open to all artists in Maine. There is a limit of two entries per artist; entry fee is $15/entry for members and $20/entry for non-members.

The deadline for entering is Aug. 31 - work is entered digitally and a prospectus on the exhibition can be found at https.//boothbayartists.org.

An awards ceremony, along with a gala opening reception, will take place on Oct. 13 from 5-7 p.m.
