Bani (Bonnie) Rosario Witt, 47, passed away on Aug. 30, 2022 at the Sussman House in Rockport, Maine from ovarian cancer.

Bani was born in Lima, Peru Feb. 13, 1975 and moved to the United States with a fiance visa after her engagement to Captain Bruce A. Witt from Saint Lucie Village, Florida and Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

She was diagnosed with cancer the same day in November of 2018 that she was sworn in as a naturalized U.S. citizen.  

Her strong faith and love of the Lord, Jesus Christ gave her the strength to meet each day with beauty and grace.  

She will be missed by all who knew her as she was regarded as being a sincere friend and generous soul.

She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Bruce A. Witt; parents, Clara Aurora Mendoza Torres and Wilfredo Garcia; her older sister, Ulda Garcia Mendoza, who gave up a large portion of her life to help care for Bani in the final months of her life; as well as three other sisters and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service has not been scheduled and will most likely take place in the summer of 2023 on Cameron's Point, Southport, Maine.
