Bath celebrates Mayfair with Maypole dancing and a city-wide yard sale
Main Street Bath will celebrate the arrival of spring on May 3 with its annual Mayfair Festival. Mark your calendars to visit Bath that Saturday for a city-wide yard sale with over 30 participants, a big tent sale downtown, Maypole dancing, and much more!
Got to www.visitbath.com for a preview flier of yard-sale locations and item listings, and plan to check out downtown’s big tent sale where local merchants will be offering hot prices on clearance items. The tent will be located in the Water Street Parking lot behind Reny’s. Nonprofits will hold yard sales at Library Park.
Families making the trip can join the festivities on the Custom House Lawn where there will be live music to accompany the traditional Maypole dancing from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and enjoy Zumba Kids and Games at Tony Dance Studio from 1 to 2 p.m.
Other events include a local food sampling at Lisa-Marie’s Made in Maine, Open House at Bath Hair’s new downtown location in the Bathport building on Commercial Street from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., opening day of the outdoors Bath Farmers Market at Waterfront Park, and a Downtown Scavenger Hunt. Participants in the hunt will be entered in a drawing to win a $50 Gift of Bath gift certificate. Scavenger Hunt forms will be available at Ornament at 72 Front Street and online at www.visitbath.com.
Capping off the day, Chekhov’s play “The Cherry Orchard” will be staged at the Chocolate Church Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.
