Bean and casserole supper at St. Philip’s July 16

Sun, 07/08/2018 - 8:45am

St. Philip’s Church, 12 Hodge St., in Wiscasset kicks off its summer series of three suppers on Monday, July 16, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. People are invited to a good, old-fashioned church supper complete with baked beans, hot dogs, casseroles, salads, breads, beverage, and dessert: good, solid, down-home cooking.

The charge for the meal is by donation. No donation is too small or too big; come and join in the event. All funds go to support the church and its outreach missions.

To make a reservation (not necessary but would help in the planning) or to obtain further information, call 882-7184. Leave a name and a return phone number for verification.

The next supper in the series will be on Monday, July 30.  Once again, hearty fare of beans and casseroles will be on the menu.  The third supper on Aug. 13 will end the series with St. Philip’s popular haddock chowder.

These are three chances to let others do the cooking while supporting the Help Yourself Shelf food pantry, the Feed Our Scholars backpack program, as well as the Bargain Basement which helps outfit those who have suffered catastrophic events for no charge.

Before or after attending the dinner, feel free to sneak a peak at all the good deals in the Bargain Basement which will be open during the supper event. Come away with a full tummy, and treasures in the bargain.
