Big doings in June
The fun has just begun. The region has graduated its high school seniors and the ceremonies were a delight to behold. Boothbay’s 114th annual Grand March is a beautiful tradition which will hopefully go on, and on, and on! Congratulations to the Wolverines and Seahawks who received diplomas last week. May you have great memories of your time at WMHS and BRHS, respectively, and be successful and happy in your future endeavors.
And good luck to our area eighth graders who move on to high school after this week. Grades nine through 12 will pass by quicker than you think but the memories gained will be worth the time you put into your studies and extra-curricular activities.
This week we have Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce’s big events, Claw Down on June 12, followed by Fishin’ for Fashion on June 13. Also, don’t miss the Charles Begin Lobster Boat Races on Saturday, June 14 or the first-ever Antiques Roadshow at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens June 18.
The 63rd annual Windjammer Days in Boothbay Harbor begins June 22 and runs through June 28. Let’s hope the rain, which has fallen steadily since April, ceases so the many events scheduled during that week can be enjoyed under sunny skies and comfortable temperatures.
Check our calendars (online and in print) for other events – shows at the Opera House, art walks, concerts, craft fairs and more.
Like the song goes, “June is Bustin Out All Over." Oh, yeah, you can hear that at Carousel Music Theater June 26 in a celebration of the movie filmed in Boothbay Harbor nearly 70 years ago – summer has started in earnest. Enjoy!
