We welcome the public to join us in our living room for a talk by Douglas Preston September 10 at 3:00PM. Preston has published thirty-six books of both nonfiction and fiction, of which twenty-nine have been New York Times bestsellers. He is the co-author, with Lincoln Child, of the Pendergast series of thrillers. He writes about archaeology and anthropology for the New Yorker Magazine, and he worked as an editor at the American Museum of Natural History in New York and taught nonfiction writing at Princeton University. Preston's work often combines his passion for nature and history with suspenseful narratives. He currently serves as President of the Authors Guild, the nation’s oldest and largest association of authors and journalists.

For many years, Preston lived in Italy and wrote a true-crime book about Italy's Jack the Ripper, a serial killer known as the Monster of Florence. The book is being made into a major motion picture. Preston retraced on horseback the journey of the Spanish conquistador, Coronado, and his futile search for the Seven Cities of Gold in Arizona and New Mexico. That journey resulted in the book, Cities of Gold. The author also wrote a short book about the anthropology of Internet savagery and abuse, using the Amanda Knox murder case as a point of departure, Trial by Fury.

The Lincoln Home is located at 22 River Road, Newcastle. RSVP to the front desk at 563-3350. For more information on our vibrant community for seniors, visit our website at lincoln-home.org.
