Bigelow open house in East Boothbay
Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences is inviting the public to the first summer open house on its new, LEED Platinum Ocean Science and Education Campus at 60 Bigelow Drive in East Boothbay on Friday, August 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The laboratory’s scientists, staff and interns will be on hand to meet informally with visitors and describe the research they are doing to understand the ocean’s microscopic marine organisms and their critical role in the global environment.
The day’s schedule includes a program of short presentations about research projects and the laboratories that support them, as well as self-guided open periods, expedition videos, displays and hands-on activities. All ages welcome, but no pets, please. Parking is available on campus.
Bigelow Laboratory is an independent, non-profit center for global ocean research, ocean science education, and technology transfer.
A recognized leader in Maine's emerging innovation economy, the laboratory’s research ranges from microbial oceanography to the large-scale processes that drive ocean systems and global environmental conditions. For more information, call 207-315-2567.
