Blues duo Red Beans & Rice at DRA Round Top Coffee House
Blues duo Red Beans & Rice will take center stage at the Damariscotta River Association’s Round Top Coffee House on Friday, July 13.
Red Beans & Rice describe themselves as “a loose affiliation of two, an acoustic duo playing an entertaining and engaging mix of blues old and new. Mr. Rice (Carter Ruff) plays slide guitar and has been known to howl at the moon. ‘Red’ Beans (Dave Hunt) is a gentler man with a touch on the guitar that is sweetly complex and a voice as smooth as butter on a burn.”
You won’t want to miss this tasty blues duo.
The DRA Round Top Coffee House open mic is held on the second Friday of each month. The DRA invites musicians, singers, poets and other performers to sign up and demonstrate their talents during the open mic portion of the Coffee House.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The open mic runs from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m., with a 15-minute break before the feature act from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The open mic is a series of eight-minute, two-song slots, and is designed for individual or small group performances. Performers should be able to walk up on stage and set up quickly. To be assured of a slot, performers should show up to sign up promptly at 6:30 p.m.
Coffee and snacks are available. A plate or two of home-baked goods or a volunteer shift at the open mic earns free admission.
Rising Tide Community Market sponsors the DRA Round Top Coffee House by providing refreshments for each show. Rising Tide is proud to sponsor this opportunity for the Damariscotta community to hear some great music from local talent and from around the region.
The DRA Round Top Coffee House is held at DRA’s Round Top Farm on Route 1B (Main Street) in Damariscotta, with onsite parking. The venue is across the street from Hammond Lumber and between Women of Substance and Round Top Ice Cream.
Admission is $6 ($3 for Seniors, free for kids 12 and under). For more information, call Heather Hardy or Jason Anthony at 677-2354 or the DRA at 563-1393.
