Chamber recognizes Garden Club of Wiscasset
Garden Club of Wiscasset held its annual meeting and luncheon June 4 at First Congregational Church in Wiscasset.
Members enjoyed quiche, salad and crème brûlée. Following lunch and socializing, President Shelia Scott announced that the Garden Club received (totally unexpected) the 2026 Unsung Hero Award from Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce at their 15th annual meeting and Awards dinner May 5 at Chewonki Chaplin Hall. A beautiful tribute was read honoring GCW’s history and tracked the work members do in Wiscasset and surrounding communities. Garden club member Dr. Geneie Everett was there to accept this award and an official Certificate of Recognition from Sen. Angus King.
President Shelia Scott recognized several club members for their generous contributions, often behind the scenes, for the Garden Club of Wiscasset. Accepting this recognition were Emily Adler, Genie Everett, Lisa Freeman and Tina Sedney. Each was presented with a planter filled with beautiful flowers.
Of special significance, GCW received so many strong scholarship applications this year that the Board voted to award an additional $5,000 scholarship for a total of three. Congratulations to the following Lincoln County recipients: Bella Bodmer, Freya Drum and Grace Greene.
