Delight A. Murray
Delight Ann Murray, 89, of Edgecomb, Maine, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 16, 2026.
She was born in Damariscotta on Feb. 2, 1937, the daughter of Hollis T. and Leona Greenleaf of Edgecomb.
Delight graduated from Wiscasset High School, where she received the DAR Good Citizen Award her senior year. She later attended business school in Portland, preparing for a life filled with family, service, and entrepreneurship.
On March 4, 1956, she married Fred Murray, beginning a loving marriage that lasted 59 years. Together they built their first home in Edgecomb and owned and operated several businesses over the decades. Delight served on the Edgecomb School Board earlier in her life, always committed to supporting her community.
In 1979, Delight and Fred moved to Topsham, where she served on the Planning Committee and continued her dedication to civic involvement. They lived there for 22 years. In 1985, they founded Murray’s Grounds Keeping, which they operated until Fred’s retirement in 1988. After selling the business, they returned to Edgecomb in 2001 and built a new home, returning to the place that had always been the heart of their family.
Delight was a strong‑willed woman with a genuine love for the Lord, her husband, her children, grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, and many dear friends. She was a true people person — warm, welcoming, and full of life. Her joy came from family gatherings, deep friendships, and the simple, meaningful moments shared with those she loved.
Delight and Fred’s faith shaped their lives. In 1963, they accepted the Lord as their Savior, beginning decades of ministry together. In 2006, they joined Boothbay Fellowship, where they became active and devoted members, serving faithfully and encouraging others with their steadfast belief and loving spirits.
Delight leaves behind her daughter Heidi Murray and her husband Craig Saunders; daughter Crystal Murray, all of Edgecomb; six grandchildren: Angela Krannis, Justin Krainis and his wife Shushana, Josh Krainis and his wife Casandra, Isaac Krainis and his wife Chrystal, Chelsey Murray, and Laura Jurkiewicz and her husband Karsten; six great‑grandchildren: Boston, Eliya, Lilly Delight Krainis, Kyle Joy, Ivan Jurkiewicz, Gage and Gabby Frank; her nephew, Eugene Page; cousins; and many cherished friends.
Her legacy is one of faith, devotion, hard work, and love — a life lived fully, generously, and with a heart open to all.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 3 p.m. at her home, 562 Cross Point Road, Edgecomb.
