Come help clean at Dresden’s Pownalborough Court House May 10
Wed, 05/07/2014 - 12:00pm
It’s time for spring cleaning at the Pownalborough Court House in Dresden. Volunteers are needed to clear out the cobwebs, sweep the floors, and polish the windows to prepare the building for summer visitors.
We’ll begin at 9 a.m. and end by 3 p.m. Work just a few hours in the morning or bring bag lunch and continue into the afternoon. Any amount of time that you can spare will be helpful. For information, call Merry Fossel at 207-586-5690.
Lincoln County Historical Association’s Pownalborough Court House is only pre-Revolutionary court house in Maine. The structure still stands on its original site on the banks of the Kennebec River in Dresden. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Court House is a remarkable example of colonial New England architecture.
The Lincoln County Historical Association is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that provides stewardship for the 1754 Chapman-Hall House in Damariscotta, the 1761 Pownalborough Court House in Dresden, and the 1811 Old Jail and Museum in Wiscasset.
