The DaPonte String Quartet’s new season begins October 24 and includes everything from Gesualdo’s 16th century Madrigals to George Crumb’s 20th century masterpiece “Black Angels.”
The 2013-2014 season comprises four different concert series, each one performed in Thomaston (St. John’s Church), Damariscotta (Lincoln Theater), Portland (Public Library), and Topsham (Mid-Coast Presbyterian Church).
Series I in October, “Entente Cordiale,” features Beethoven’s String Quartet in D Major, Op. 18 no. 3; Prokofiev’s String Quartet No. 1 in B Minor, Op. 50; and William Walton’s 1947 String Quartet No. 2 in A.
