KEVIN BURNHAM/Boothbay RegisterThe residents and staff of St. Andrews Village were ready to greet two special guests Friday morning, Aug. 14, outside the Village Inn.
The special guests had nothing to say, but the greeters were sure smitten with them.
Enter Jimmy and Marley, horses owned by Ella Watts and her parents, Robbie and Sara Watts. The horses are boarded at Burke’s Island Farm in Boothbay and they spent about an hour at the Village. Greeters touched, fed, brushed, photographed and some hugged the horses.
St. Andrews Village Resident Services Coordinator Sarah Hackler said, “It was a wonderful experience for everyone!”
With Ella holding and showing off Jimmy, her 15-year-old quarter horse, and father Robbie tending to 30-year-old grade horse Marley, greeters, who came from around the various divisions of the Village and numbered over 50, also fed the guests carrots and wedges of apples provided by the Village, while also inquiring about the horses and farm.
Ella is employed at the Village Inn and many of the residents had heard about her interest in horses and competing, so the visit was set up.
