Design Showhouse planned for Saint Andrew’s outreach
A Design Showhouse will be the highlight of a “Glimpse of Glidden Street,” this year’s outreach fundraising event for St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Newcastle. Scheduled for Sept. 28 through Oct. 2 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the festivities will include tours of the Arts and Crafts architectural gem of the church itself, visits to select buildings and grounds on historic Glidden Street, a silent auction, concerts in the church and a preview party.
The grand Parish House, diagonally across from the church, is currently getting readied for showcasing fourteen area designers in ten rooms. Among the businesses presenting booths will be Sproul’s Furniture, Salt Bay Trading Company, The Paint Room at Nobleboro Antique Exchange, and Moulinette and Birch, both shops in Wiscasset. One of St. Andrew’s biggest outreach beneficiaries is the church’s Haiti Fund, which will also have a booth decorated with Haitian paintings and crafts.
Other Outreach partners are the Lincoln County Energy Fund, Ecumenical Food Pantry, CHIP and Habitat for Humanity. All proceeds from tickets to the showcase and preview party will go toward these organizations. The preview party with wine and beer will be held Sept. 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets for this, which will be limited, will be $25 per person or $40 a couple; and for the Showhouse and tours from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2, they are $15 in advance or $20 at the door; all tickets will be available at the following locations: Skidompha Library, at St. Andrew’s Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and at Birch’s at 72 Main St. in Wiscasset.
