Discouragement sets in
At the halfway point of this challenge, I do feel slightly discouraged. My weight loss has not been nearly what I expected. Although I did lose another pound this past week, I feel my progress has been slow to this point.
Talking to Coach Lisa Hall about it this this week, she said that a lot of people in her program feel like I do. She said it’s usually between weeks three and four that people give up because they feel, like I do, all the work they do isn’t worth it.
Hall said success comes with the right balance of the diet and exercise. It’s evident to me that I haven’t figured out the right combination for my body. However, I will not give up; I am determined to see this to the end.
Eliminating grains was difficult. There is some sort of grain are in so many foods, so basically this week I tried to stick to lean meat, cheese and fruits/vegetables. I earned a total of 34 of 42 for my nutrition challenge. For the fitness challenge, I earned 78 points.
For Week 4 we are challenged to stay away from dairy products and foods that contain any sugar (including substitutes for sugar). If sugar is listed as an ingredient we should stay away from it. So this challenge will have us ready labels again. I thought it was going to be a problem to drink my coffee without adding Equal or Splenda, but after so far I have been able to drink it (and still enjoy it) without adding the sweetener.
The Pink Ladies' points will work as a team to complete the fitness challenge for this week. Hall has given us a list of activities that we will need to finish as a team. Many of the exercises we have been doing already like walking, biking, push-ups, squats, etc.
